Lever Harps

Finishes

Apart from the Troubadour, which is available in mahogany finish only, our models are finished in either mahogany or cherry. Subject to a supplement of 10%, all our models can be supplied in either natural maple or laser-finish maple. The laser technique allows the wood to be coloured whilst leaving the beauty of its grain visible, thus combining the appeal of colour with enhancement of the natural grain of wood.

Hermine, Melusine and Korrigan are available with either legs or claw feet ; please specify your preference when submitting your order.

Telenn

  • The Telenn is a harp comparable with the Hermine, for those who prefer gut strings. Its small size (34 strings) and affordable price make it an ideal starter or travelling instrument. When violins and cellos are made in half, quarter, even eighth and sixteenth sizes, all the instrument’s proportions are adjusted. But this has never been the case for the part of the harp children touch the most – the strings.

Light, easy to handle and of impeccable quality, the Hermine is also very accessible, thanks to its very attractive price. The Hermine is available on low feet or higher legs.

    Janet

  • “When Joël Garnier offered to make me the harp of my dreams, I dreamed of a harp that my colleagues, students and I would love to play – quintessentially Irish, and more besides! The form of the Janet is inspired by the ancient Irish instruments, and the silver flash on the column is like a thousand fireplaces blazing in ancient halls. The string spacing is narrower and the tension lighter, as in the Irish tradition. These allow the harpist to fly nimbly over the strings, and produce a fantastic sound, both rich and luminous.

  • An Irish harper always has his harp by his side, and the Janet is as light and comfortable to transport as it is to play. Thank you, Jakez, for realizing Joël’s and my dream of an ultimate Irish harp. I am proud to play and be associated with such a triumph for Celtic music.”

    EC Llanera 35

  • “The EC Llanera both has the identity of the arpa llanera I play, and is a state-of-the art harp of the highest new standard. Its traditional string tension is combined with wrapped bass wires for better intonation and resonance, brilliantly accurate levers, an improved soundbox and the rich, balanced acoustic sound that is the trademark of all Camac harps. It is also the first lever llanera, unlocking still more musical potential. Light and practical, with reliable standard tuning pegs and concert harp spacing for improved ease of playing, I am proud to give it my name.”

    Finishes

Finished in Cherry, Rosewood, Walnut, Ebony, Maple or any finish which may be required.
The use of laser technique allows the wood to be coloured whilst still leaving the beauty of its natural grain perfectly visible. Thus the enhancement of the natural grain of the wood is combined with the appeal of colour.

    Electro-Acoustic Option

A harp can be amplified in one or two ways. The first solution is to provide the harp with one pickup per string, each pickup just picking up the sound of its own string : this is known as an Electric Harp (the Blue, for example, is an electric harp). The second solution is to place several pickups inside the soundboard, thus capturing all the resonance of the harp. We would like to propose you consider this system as it is affordable, and it is adaptable to all our harps across the whole range.

    Égérie Straight

  • A face you feel you know, a place you are sure you visited – the Égérie lies deep in a harpist’s imagination. Art Nouveau

During the flourishing period between the 1880s and the First World War, artists on both sides of the Atlantic went back to nature. In a symphony of fluid lines and natural forms, Art Nouveau permeated every aspect of society. Camac Harps felt compelled to pay homage to the “Belle Époque”, and its beautifully undulating, decorative elements. Flowers, tendrils, leaves and lattices contributed to a style which, like our house, turns its face to modernity. We are delighted to offer you a harp with a magnificent sound, its roots in Impressionist music.
